Argyre
Size: Length overall: 12.25" (31.1 cm), Blade Length: 6.6" (16.8 cm), Thickness: .1875 (.48 cm) Blade: 440C High Chromium Stainless Tool Steel, Hardened and Tempered to Rockwell C58, hollow ground and mirror polished Fittings/Bolsters: 304 Stainless Steel, mirror polished Handle: Polished Crazy Lace Agate Gemstone Sheath: Ringmark Lizard Inlaid in Hand-Tooled 9-10 oz. Leather Shoulder Argyre is named for a mythical ancient Greek island made of silver. The silvery color of the blade and bolsters are at the forefront of the knife's character, and the pattern is a tough, proven tactical design. I've made a similar style for years for SWAT team members. The blade style is an aggressive tanto, with a beefy spine, half-length top swage, and angular geometry contrasting the curved appeal of the handle. The blade is hollow-ground and mirror polished high chromium 440C martensitic tool steel, very thin at the point, with clean, straightforward lines. The blade is fully fileworked with my "broken bow" design throughout the spine and handle, all the way to the choil cutout. The straight handle is full and large for a substantial grip, with good quillions for a confident grip in either traditional (forward) or tactical (reverse) position. The bolsters are zero-care high nickel-chromium 304 stainless steel, super-tough and corrosion proof. They are dovetailed at the handle material, which is very hard, tough, and striking Crazy Lace Agate Gemstone from Central America. It's impossible to capture the intricacies and pattern of this gem in a photograph, the lines, crystals, lacing, and bands descend into the microscopic range. This gemstone is absolutely astounding. I book-matched the pair of handle scales, so the flow lines and pattern appears to extend through the tang. The sheath is one of my multi-inlaid types, with 15 individual panels of burgundy ringmark lizard skin inlays in 9-10 oz. hand-tooled leather shoulder, hand-stitched with polyester sinew, the toughest binder on the market. The thick welts and angular shape support a 1.5" belt loop, set at a steep angle for nearly horizontal wear. This sheath would sit well at the back side of the belt, with the cutting edge down and the handle extending to the right for a behind the belt grab with the right hand into either tactical or traditional grip. This is a beautiful investment grade tactical knife, assertive, effective, and clean. Please click on additional thumbnail photos! Thanks, P.K. ! |
