"Jemez" Custom Collaborative Working Knife by Rusty Russom and Jay Fisher
  • Size: Length overall: 6.88" (17.5 cm), Blade Length: 2.88" (7.32 cm), Thickness: .120" (3.05 mm)
  • Weight: Knife: 4.1 oz. (116 grams) Sheath: 2.6 oz. (74 grams)
  • Blade: 440C High Chromium Martensitic Stainless Tool Steel, Hardened and Tempered to Rockwell C57, Satin Finish
  • Bolsters, Fittings: Corrosion Resistant Naval Brass
  • Handle: Desert Ironwood
  • Sheath: Hand stamped leather shoulder
  • Knife: Custom made for a great client, Jemez is a stout, comfortable work knife. The tang is fully tapered with proper balance and weight in mind.  With a balance point just behind the front bolster, this knife feels great to hold and provides plenty of strength for the toughest chores. Adding full tang file work compliments the beauty of the knife, and also aids in a firmer grip. We gave the Jemez a deep hollow grind and a razor sharp edge. The handle curves downward to fit tightly in the heel of the hand allowing for more aggressive pressure while cutting. Using corrosion resistant naval brass for the bolsters, we polished them to a near mirror finish giving the knife a bright accent to the dark nature of the Ironwood and sheath. The Ironwood handle has dark, rich tones and gorgeous figure throughout. In sunlight the wood takes on an almost metallic look, perfectly intoning the brass and the wood together. Four .0625" thick brass pins bed the Ironwood to the tang for a handle that will last indefinitely. A .250" lanyard hole gives added security. This elegant knife will surprise the user with its durability, stability, toughness and strength in any job presented to it.
  • Sheath: For the sheath, I made an all-business basket weave-pattern model with 9 - 10oz. leather shoulder, dark brown dyed, hand-stitched with polyester sinew, lacquered and sealed. This is a tough, thick, and sturdy sheath with substantial welts and thickness, and should last for decades with moderate care.

This is a beautiful and sleek utility knife that will assist in many outdoor chores.

Thanks, J. C.!

She is a beauty! I almost don't want to use it for work purposes for fear of marring the finish! It has a nice weight to it and fits into my smallish hands very well! Easily worth every dime. I look forward to ordering a kitchen set in the near future! Thanks again.

-J
