"Creature" Collaborative Knife by Rusty Russom and Jay Fisher
  • Size: Length overall: 9.0" (22.9 cm), Blade Length: 4.75" (12.0 cm), Thickness: .177" (4.9 mm)
  • Weight: Knife: 8.0 oz. (226 grams) Sheath (with extender and accessories): 15.0 oz. (425 grams)
  • Blade: 440C High Chromium Martensitic Stainless Tool Steel, Hardened and Tempered to Rockwell C58, Bead Blasted
  • Bolsters, Fittings: 304 Austenitic Stainless Steel, Bead Blasted
  • Handle: Lignum Vitae Hardwood
  • Sheath: Locking, Kydex, Aluminum, Stainless Steel
  • Extender: Polypropylene, Nylon, Diamond Pad Sharpener, Firesteel-Magnesium block fire starter
  • Knife: Made for tactical use, Combat Search and Rescue, or defense, the Creature is a proven design that combines a wide, strong blade with plenty of belly and a strong point. The blade has a deep hollow grind that helps reduce overall weight but allows the blade to retain a razor sharp edge. The blade and bolsters are bead blasted for low maintenance and reduced glare. A fully tapered tang reduces handle weight and gives the knife a balance point just behind the front finger groove. The handle is made from Lignum Vitae hardwood, the hardest wood known. This is the heaviest, densest, hardest hardwood on the planet. This stuff is so tough, it's used for machine and water turbine bushings. It's so naturally heavy and full of resins, it sinks in water. The large rear bolster fits comfortably against the heel of the hand and allows the client to put increased pressure on the knife for tough cutting chores. The downward slope of the handle and a thumb rise just before the blade helps with adding thrusting or downward pressure when needed. A through tang lanyard hole gives added security of the knife.
  • Sheath: We created one of our excellent locking, waterproof tactical sheaths; it's made of double-thickness kydex over a 5052H32 corrosion resistant, high-strength aluminum welt frame. The sheath has all stainless steel locking components for low-care and high corrosion resistance with security. The sheath is secured with stainless steel Chicago screws and 304 stainless steel machine screws. 1.75" wide belt loops are included (not shown) in die-formed, high strength aluminum.
  • Ultimate Extender: We also included one of our ultimate sheath belt loop extenders with full accessory package. This allows a lower, more traditional placement of the locking sheath on the belt, and will accommodate thicker belts and belts up to 2.5" wide, and includes the anti-flop shock cord with nickel plated steel snap retention, the diamond pad sharpener, and the magnesium-Firesteel fire starter. Learn more about these useful accessories here.
  • It was exciting to create this fine knife. The creature is a solid, dependable knife that will accompany the client into any situations that may arise. With the combination of the 440C high chromium stainless steel blade, the 304 stainless steel bolsters and the Lignum Vitae hardwood handle, this knife will last for generations to come.

Thanks again, T. G!

"Creature" tactical knife in reverse view. This knife is very stout and sturdy. The handle fits snugly into the hand and very little can remove it from a tight grip. "Creature" tactical knife tang view. The fully tapered tang reduces the wieght of the handle, bringing the balance point forward for better use. "Creature" tactical knife inside handle tang view. The dove-tailed bolsters bed the Lignum Vitae hardwood handle scales tightly, giving an almost seamless feel between steel and wood. "Creature" tactical knife sheath view. The kydex, aluminum, and stainless steel sheath is perfectly complimented by the polypropolene and nylon extender. Accessories are daimond pad sharpener and a magnesium fire starter firesteel.
