• Knife: The Bulldog is a great tactical knife design and was originally created for close quarters combat, and also has great characteristics as a survival and working tool. The blade is accurately hollow ground and we made it in bead blasted 440C high chromium martensitic stainless tool steel for the greatest longevity and highest corrosion resistance of the wear resistant stainless tool steels. The grind is deep and uniform, with nicely radiused grind terminations and is very well matched side to side. The knife has a significant double choil that keeps the fingers clear of the blade, and offers a definitive point for sharpening the razor-keen cutting edge. The blade has a half-length top swage and substantial thumb rise for a secure grip, and with a thick and solid spine, has great strength. The spine is clean and smooth, and without filework, will not hold or trap debris or corrosive salts even in marine exposures. The tang is fully tapered to reduce handle weight and gives the knife a balance point in front of the forefinger placement. The knife has zero-care 304 austenitic high nickel, high chromium stainless steel bolsters, the same high strength stainless steel used to make corrosion resistant nuts, bolts, and fasteners. They are dovetailed and bed a pair of black canvas reinforced Micarta® phenolic scales. Micarta is considered the Cadillac of durable and tough manmade phenolic knife handle materials, and this particular type has canvas reinforcement that strengthens the scales and gives additional texture and purchase for the grip. The handle scales are permanently secured with four 304 stainless steel pins tightly bonding the bedded and sealed handle material against the tang. The finger ring is smoothly rounded for comfort, inside and out. With the detail of rounded and contoured bolsters, scales, tang, and ring, and with the aggressive and tough spear point blade profile, this knife feels formidable and critically sound in the hand. Since this knife is designed for both a forward and reverse grip style, the knife is at home in the hand, no matter how it is worn, carried, or used. It's easy to see why this knife, designed by an infantryman in the 101st Airborne for his use and carry in Operation Iraqi Freedom, is one of our most popular models.
• Sheath: We made one of our fine locking, waterproof tactical sheaths for this knife, the best tactical combat knife sheath style made anywhere. The sheath is made of double-thickness kydex that is (.125") thick for strength, durability, stability, and longevity, and is then hot-formed over a 5052H32 corrosion resistant, high strength aluminum alloy welt frame, secured with nickel plated steel Chicago screws and waterproof cement. The sheath has all stainless steel locking components in 302, 304, and 316 austenitic stainless steel for low-care, high corrosion resistance, and durability while positively locking the knife in the sheath. The machine screws and reinforcements are also stainless steel. 1.75" wide belt loops are die-formed in high strength aluminum, and are reversible for versatile wear in any position, while being able to be located in several positions along the welts for a huge variety of wear options.
